I am the mom of two daughters, ages 19 and 17, and one son, age 12. I am also the stepmom to two stepsons, ages 23 and 21. I was in the world of corporate finance for many years before reaching the burn-out point two years ago and “semi-retiring”. I now spend my time consulting for a few clients, running to kids’ sporting and school events, fishing, reading, playing with my dogs, and writing. I have recently returned to writing, which was a passion of mine when I was young, but which had fallen by the wayside during the busy years of motherhood.I hope through my writing that I am able to touch other’s lives in some small way.
Kristin Mastre is a wife of 10 years, a mother to two boys (The Baby and The Preschooler), a friend, a Personal Trainer and a Writer. Kristin has been blogging for years, starting with her family blog in 2005. Her personal blog has been highlighted on NewParent.com and various other parenting blogs around the world after writing about the challenges of pregnancy, parenthood and the adventures of raising two boys in the Rocky Mountains. She began writing a health and fitness blog in 2007 that had posts published by Fox News, Reuters, USA Today, iVillage, and a multitude of news stations across the country. After noticing that there was a lack of food bloggers in Fort Collins, she decided to throw her hat into the ring in May of 2009.
Kristin is one of the top food writers in the City of Fort Collins, writing for the website FeastingFortCollins.com. Every aspect of the roles in her life revolve around her love of food in some way: date nights with her husband, finding kid-friendly places to eat with her family, a night out on the town with her friends and helping her training clients find healthy food choices to achieve their fitness goals. Being an honest writer, she'll tell it like she tastes it.
When not dining out at one of the many restaurants in Fort Collins, you can find her in the gym (working off the food review calories), doing fun things with her boys and the moms group that she is the chapter President of, meeting with the Reality Writes women and trying to find the perfect balance of it all.
I am a part-time OB/GYN, part-time writer, and part-time stay-at-home mom. Juggling so many hats can get complicated but it sure does keep life interesting. I live in Fort Collins, CO with my husband, two kids, and a dog. I am the author of Pregnancy Dos and Don’ts (Broadway Books), a contributor to Labor Pains and Birth Stories (Catalytic Press), and have consulted/written for several popular magazines including Conceive Magazine, Fit Pregnancy, and American Baby. I am available for OB/GYN technical consulting and writing assignments.
I have 15 years of journalism experience as a reporter, sportswriter and copy editor. I've won a handful of newspaper writing awards and copy edited the Pulitzer Prize-winning series on the tragic winter drowning of four young boys in Lawrence, Mass. I'm currently a freelance writer covering Front Range businesses and health care, I edit my church newsletter, and I’m also actively involved with the Colorado Press Women (CPW). I'm married and the proud Mama of a young son.
I enjoy raising a girl and two boys, the youngest born in 2009. I have a Master's degree in TESL and although not currently working, I have taught English as a Second Language in Oregon, Japan, and Colorado, and spent a year as a writing consultant at Colorado State University. My writing has been published online by TESL-EJ and Utmost Christian Writers. Beyond that, my main interests are photography, traveling, and web development. I also participate in a MOPS group. Wife of one. Mom of three. Born and raised in Sweden. Aspiring Children's book writer and Illustrator. Graphic Designer. Skier. Runner. I juggle being a stay at home mom with all my other interests and duties. My days are busy and I like it.
I love simplicity - long walks, hot coffee, red wine, spring and fall, reading a good novel, journaling, the occasional vacation... I prefer a deep tissue massage over a new outfit and acupuncture over a new coat, running shoes over high heels... But every now and then I do get the urge to dress up in something sexy and expensive and hit a classy bar with my husband or a girlfriend.
My priorities are my daughter and my husband, as well as my prayer life, although I do struggle with keeping these things my top priorities and finding a healthy balance with everything in my life. Becoming a mom in March of 2008 was the absolute most amazing thing that's ever happened to me, but definitely the most challenging, as well. I never realized how difficult it would be to give up so much of myself. But the transformation, although painful, has been wonderful!
I'm a graphic designer, aspiring pop artist and mother of one, wife of one, living in a loft in Old Town in Fort Collins, Colorado. I try to live my life where design and motherhood intersect, but not limited to. Currently working from home working freelance with my design biz, One Girl Creative (since 2003). In addition to family and health being the most important in my life, I try and adhere to a completely art-filled environment and way of life. Which include—but not limited to—frequent gallery visits, blog perusing by artists and designers alike, and as a member of the Denver Art Museum, I enjoy making regular visits for my dose of all things "artsy." If I can't live in New York City, then I choose to live in what we call our little urban environment in Old Town Ft. Collins—where frequent walks to coffee shops and toy stores are nothing short of sublime.
